Opening Ceremony of Danube School of Cultural Heritage was followed with interesting lectures and workshops

Second day of Danube School of Cultural Heritage started with Opening Ceremony at the Faculty of Philosophy, University of Novi Sad. 

Dean of the Faculty, prof. dr Ivana Živančević Sekeruš welcomed participants and congratulated DAReC for successful organizing schools for 5 years already. She wished participants to enjoy Novi Sad while actively participating the school.

Mr. Johannes Irschik, Director of the Austrian Cultural Forum emphasized the importance of preserving Cultural Heritage especially in Novi Sad, which is great location for organizing this school.

Dr Boris Stojkovski, deputy of the chief of department for history at the Faculty of Philosophy, University of Novi Sad, as well as the professor to some of the DAReC members, emphasized that events like this improve cooperation of researchers within the region and wished lot of success to participants. After opening ceremony, lectures followed.

Doc. dr Vladimir D. MIhajlovic, from department for history at the Faculty of Philosophy, University of Novi Sad held lecture about the Historical background and development of Roman limes in Serbia.

After lunch, participants went to Historical Archives of City of Novi Sad and had introduction about the activities and maintenance of the archival material, presented by the director Petar Đurđev, while visiting depos and other departments.

Dr Boris Stojkovski, assistant professor at the Department of History, Faculty of Philosophy University of Novi Sad, held lecture about the cultural heritage of the Serbian Orthodox Church and relation with other Christian Churches on the occasion of the 800th anniversary of the autocephalous Serbian Orthodox Church.

Lecture held by Marija Krečković, representative of NGO Youth Initiative “I want! I Can!”, from Donji Milanovac presented Cultural Heritage promotion through examples of good practice. After lecture, participants had group work and started creating ideas for projects that will develop in the following days of the school.

Traditional dinner with FOLK music was following and was great way to show Serbian tradition and connect researchers in informal atmosphere in the typical Serbian restaurant.
